June 21, 2011: Jeff Reynolds Obtains Summary Judgment for ExxonMobil in Wilkinson County, MS Environmental Impact Case

The Plaintiffs claimed a waste treatment facility now owned by ExxonMobil that treated ExxonMobil’s refinery wastes many years ago caused environmental damage to their adjoining property.

Jeff Reynolds was lead counsel for ExxonMobil in this lawsuit.

A jury trial was set to begin on Monday, June 27, 2011. On June 21, Circuit Judge Lillie Blackmon Sanders issued an Order Granting ExxonMobil’s Motion for Summary Judgment in its entirety. Judge Sanders ruled that the Plaintiffs’ lawsuit should be dismissed with prejudice since the three year statute of limitations had run on their claims and the “Prior Trespass Doctrine” served as a complete bar to their lawsuit.

ExxonMobil deserves credit for a significant victory in a Mississippi county that historically has been a dangerous venue for defendants.
